Elimination of obstacles at EAEU internal market enabled a 27%-increase in mutual trade volumes in 2017

The elimination of the most sensitive obstacles in mutual trade existing between the States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as well as development of cooperation with Kyrgyz business were discussed on September 20 in Bishkek by the Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Karine Minasyan, the Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Oleg Pankratov and the representatives of Kyrgyz business community.

“The elimination of obstacles at the EAEU internal market enabled a 27%-increase in mutual trade volume in 2017, – noted Karine Minasyan – Another positive result is the liberalization of labour market, creation of more comfortable conditions for the Union’s working population”.

The importance of joint efforts of the Member States and the Commission to detect and to eliminate obstacles (exceptions, restrictions and barriers) at the EAEU internal market was emphasized.

“We will still have to solve many issues which is possible due to overcoming obstacles inhibiting free movement of goods, services, capital and labour at the Union’s market”, – highlighted Oleg Pankratov.

Let us remind that the Kyrgyz Republic in the year of its chairmanship in the EAEU’s governing bodies specified such priority areas as creating the necessary conditions for successful development of entrepreneurial activity in the Union, and eliminating existing barriers and restrictions in mutual trade.

The attendees of the meeting discussed the issues of digital transformation in the economy and the need for timely accomplishment of tasks assigned upon implementation of the Digital Agenda. Oleg Pankratov thanked Karine Minasyan and the representatives of the Kyrgyz business community for a rewarding meeting and wished everybody success in future endeavors.
