Eurasian integration sets out on a path of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

In 2019, the States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) will go ahead with implementation of the concept to create conditions for digital transformation of the industry and establishment of Single Digital Space. This was announced by the Member of the Board –Minister in charge of Industry and Agriculture of the EEC Alexander Subbotin at the plenary session of the VI Forum of Kazakhstani Machine Builders.

According to the EEC Minister, the Union countries are now launching common digital projects, branch-wise consortia in industry, platforms in the sphere of trade, single information systems, which is actually the beginning of a new stage of Eurasian integration.

“The strategic objective of the development of the Union’s real economy is the increase in labour efficiency across basic branches as well as comprehensive implementation of such elements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution as artificial intelligence, automation and robotization”, – stated Alexander Subbotin.

He also noted that digitalization in the EAEU covers the most efficient, prospective and top-priority areas. In this context the creation of the Eurasian Network of Industrial Cooperation and Subcontracting and the Eurasian Technology Transfer Network was initiated in 2017.

“A series of pilot projects aimed at “digitization” of production processes within the priority industry branches will be implemented in the medium term enabling access to support of the creation of branch-wise digital platforms”, – added the EEC representative.

As part of the forum’s business program Alexander Subbotin discussed the issues of the EAEU agricultural sector development with the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Umirzak Shukeyev.

Moreover, the EEC Minister held a number of working meetings with the management of the relevant agencies of Kazakhstan – the Minister of National Economy Timur Suleymenov, the First Vice-Minister for Investment and Development Roman Sklyar and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Machine Builders’ Union Meyram Pshembayev.
