The Russian Expert Institute for Social Research called the Eurasian sector, Centre for Complex European and International Studies, Higher School of Economics one of the new influential Russian think tanks for the “projection of smart power” of Russia in the international research community. This is stated in the report of the Institute “Intellectual expansion. Russian Think Tanks: Possibilities of Influence in the International Expert and Political Space” (Moscow, March 7, 2018).
“The comprehension and discussion of the national intellectual heritage is intended to help in the formation of applied, technologically-thought-out international political strategies. For example, the geo-economic concept of “Greater Eurasia”, conceptually designed by the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEIS) of the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics of the Higher School of Economics and developed by the International Discussion Club “Valdai”, today serves as an important conceptual core for intellectual search and discursive practice”, – the authors state.
“In 2017, within as part of this Centre the “Eurasian sector” was created. The sector offers educational programs, implements research, carries out information exchange and conducts scientific and practical activities in the field of Eurasian economic integration. The head of the sector is a research fellow at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria) Yuri Kofner”, – says the report.
