From 13 to 16 November 2017, Yuri Kofner, editor-in-chief editor, “Eurasian Studies”, met with representatives of leading Belarusian enterprises, the research community and government agencies in Minsk. The meetings were organized by the NGO “Eurasian Partnership” and were conducted as part of IIASA’ fast-track study “Alingning non-tariff barriers between the EAEU and the EU”. Dmitry Karmazin, chairman, Eurasian Partnership and Alexey Toma, deputy chairman, Eurasian Partnership, also took part in the meetings.
On November 13, the delegation held a meeting with Viktor Shumilo, general director of JSC “Atlant” (refrigerators, washing machines). After the discussion, they conducted an excursion around the plant.
On November 15, after giving a key-note speech at the scientific and practical round table “Integration of Integrations: Challenges and Prospects of an EU – EAEU Common Economic Space”, Kofner held a meeting with professor Mikhail Kovalev, dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Belarusian State University.
On November 16, a meeting with Oksana Grishkevich, head, Department of Technical Regulation and Standardization, State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, was held.
On the same day, a meeting with Tadeusz Ledjey, head, quality and standardization department of JSC “BELAZ” (mining dump trucks of heavy-duty and super-size load capacity), was held. Then the delegation was given a tour of the plant.
