November 10, 2017 in the Eurasian sector of Higher School of Economics an expert meeting on Eurasian economic integration took place
The meeting was attended by: Yury Kofner, head, Eurasian sector, CCEIS, Higher School of Economics; Michael Emerson, research fellow, CEPS and IIASA, Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation (1991-1996); Tatyana Isachenko, Dr. Sc. (Economics), Professor, MGIMO and HSE; Maxim Karlyuk, research fellow, Institute of Law and Development, HSE – Skolkovo; Nadezhda Tynnikova, laboratory assistant, Eurasian sector, CCEIS, HSE.
The participants discussed ways to reduce non-tariff barriers of the Eurasian Union in its trade with third countries, in particular by convergence of technical regulations and standards between the EAEU and the EU, as well as by the possibility of signing a mutual recognition agreement of test results between both unions. The activities of the EAEU Court and its recent cases also became the subject of discussion by the experts.
The results of the discussion will be included in the IIASA fast-track study on “Alligning TBT and SPS between the EAEU and the EU”.
